Government spokeswoman Maud Bregeon denounced on Sunday 29 September Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s criticism of the Minister Delegate for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad, accused by the LFI leader of “being won over to Mr Netanyahu’s policy”.

In a meeting in Lozère on Saturday evening, speaking on the situation in LebanonJean-Luc Mélenchon said that France would not ask for any sanctions against Israel at the European level because “the minister who has been appointed to take care of Europe is someone who is committed to Mr. Netanyahu’s policy”, without mentioning the name of the minister in question. On X, government spokeswoman Maud Bregeon denounced “Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s nauseating innuendos against the minister in charge of Europe” by implying that Jean-Luc Mélenchon, regularly accused of ambiguity on the issue of anti-Semitism, expressed these criticisms because Benjamin Haddad is Jewish.
