After days of negotiations, sometimes stormy, Michel Barnier’s government is finally unveiled. Marked on the right, the team will now have to hold while the Modem who joined the cast has made its reluctance known, as has part of the Macronist left wing.
After 16 days of waiting, the Barnier government was finally born on Saturday 21 September. In all, 39 ministers have been announced. Among the right-wing heavyweights is the boss of the Macronist senators Bruno Retailleau at the Interior. Macron is in a good position with Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet at Labour and Antoine Armand at Economy.
As for the Modems, they inherit the prestigious Quai d’Orsay, now headed by Jean-Noël Barrot, until now in European Affairs and Health, where Geneviève Darrieussecq has landed. Horizons is taking over Social Affairs, which will be headed by Paul Christophe, the president of the Social Affairs Committee at the Assembly.
